Shearwater dive computers - perfectly designed

Shearwater Research designs and manufactures advanced multi-gas dive computers that can be successfully used for air, nitrox and trimix dives. They are one of the better choices on the market for both those starting their underwater adventure and advanced technical divers. Each model is designed to meet all the expectations of the diver underwater, but also on the surface. Shearwater Research's dive computers are made using the latest technology, taking into account current diving and decompression knowledge, while remaining reliable and intuitive to use.

The intuitive interface means you can quickly get to the function you need at any given time. The clear indication of alarms and messages makes the diver more aware underwater, not only of the current situation, but able to check different action scenarios, adapting his decisions to the changing conditions and requirements of a given dive.

The easy-to-read LCD display guarantees error-free parameter readings even in very limited visibility in cloudy water. The ability to adjust the display's saturation and colour is an additional option to personalise and adapt the computer to current underwater conditions.

The easy change of gases and quick access to editing options means that we can react quickly, also in emergency situations.

The customisable home screen means that you can access the most relevant information without having to enter the computer menu.

The rugged casing not only protects the computer, but has a high resistance to mechanical damage and still looks great on the diver's hand. On the Shaerwater Perdix and Perdix AI models, the reduced size of the computer means that it takes up less space on the wrist and the casing is more streamlined. Also on the Teric model, which replaces the watch on the surface, there are reinforcements to protect the dial - sapphire glass and a stainless steel bezel and buttons. Cases and straps in several colours can be purchased for selected models.

The interchangeable battery on selected models means that a discharged battery can be quickly replaced with a new one without having to plug the device into a charger and move the immersion time.

Multilingual menus have definitely broadened the audience for Shearwater Research products.

Shearwater provides computers for open and closed circuit dives. The decompression models used in them are based on the Bühlmann ZHL-16C algorithm with gradient factors and VPM-B. The gradient factorials make it possible to individually adjust the conservatism when it comes to decompression according to the requirements of a given dive, but also the diver's experience and specific individual factors (e.g. psycho-physical conditions on a given day). This allows us to realistically increase our safety even during difficult and demanding dives. The decompression models used in Shearwater computers are not only among the most widely used by technical and recreational divers, but also the best researched when it comes to the effects of inert gases on the human body during a dive.

Shearwater computers for technical and rebreather divers

The most popular models from this manufacturer have been developed with technical divers - using both open and closed circuits - in mind. The current top-of-the-range Perdix AI, successor to the Pertel 2 model, features a 2.2-inch display and power consumption has been reduced by 30% compared to its predecessor. With the use of high-end batteries, we do not have to worry about replacing them frequently. The computer is also thinner and its casing has a more streamlined shape. The two buttons allow precise operation also with thick gloves, which we use in cold waters.

If we are looking for a model that replaces a designer watch on the surface, while retaining all functions underwater, Shearwater has also met these expectations by releasing the Teric model with advanced customisation capabilities. The AMOLED display, is extremely easy to read, even despite its smaller size (e.g. compared to the Perdix AI model). The computer can be adjusted to suit the requirements of recreational divers, technical divers (OC, CC/BO), switched to depth gauge mode or freediving mode. The stainless steel buttons are easy to operate, even with thick gloves.

    Shearwater computers for recreational divers
With many years of experience in building computers for technical divers and releasing models that are becoming increasingly popular, the company has also decided to meet the needs of recreational divers. The top models from this manufacturer can also be used during air and nitrox dives, but the many additional features, as well as the higher price of the models, make them less accessible to beginners. It is with this in mind that the company's first ever recreational dive computer, the Sherawater Peregrine, has been developed, incorporating all the best technology while minimising menu options to ideally meet the needs of those starting out underwater. The main advantages of the Peregrine model include a large, colour and easy-to-read display, intuitive operation and wireless charging, which reduces the risk of incorrect battery changes and therefore eliminates any potential leaks. This highly intuitive device is available at half the price of more advanced technical computers.

A new generation of smart transmitters

Shearwater Research is committed to developing and releasing ever new offerings. In designing the devices, their developers are on a mission to enhance diver safety underwater. The new generation of AI smart transmitters allows several of these devices to be used simultaneously and the results read out on a master computer with minimal risk of error. The transmitters are powered by a rechargeable battery that can be quickly and easily replaced. Their attachment to the first stage of the automaton does not require any additional tools, and an LED indicates that the transmitter has started up and that the device has detected the computer. The new transmitters are also smaller than similar devices on the market offered by other manufacturers. All this means that, even when diving with several side cylinders, they do not get in the way and do not increase the risk of hoses becoming entangled with them.

Shearwater Research is a company that has designed and made available to divers a near-perfect computer. What's more, the designers and developers continue to develop the technology on offer with software updates and additional features. All models are compatible with a dedicated app that works on both desktop and mobile devices. This provides a quick view of your entire dive history and all parameters recorded by the computer in the cloud. Shearwater's computers are equipped with long-life pressure sensors. The problem with many dive computers has been failures on a large number of dives. Shearwater seems to have completely eliminated this problem, with a very efficient after-sales service in the event of a fault. All of the aforementioned advantages make even the most expensive offerings from this manufacturer definitely worth the money.
