Bill and Bob were fascinated with the water. When they were 14 years old, they fashioned their own diving helmet out of a vegetable can and a tire pump. They explored the bottom of a pool reading magazines while the other the air pump on the surface.

  • DIVE RITE

    DIVE RITE

Dive Rite was established in 1984 by Lamar Hires and Mark Leonard; two underwater cave explorers and cave diving instructors from North Florida. In the 1970's and early 80's, technical diving gear was virtually non-existent. Most cave divers made their own gear or adapted ocean diving gear to fit the cave environment. Lamar and Mark changed that and began the first technical dive gear company in existence. Pioneering products such as the Classic wing and the canister light, they introduced to the scuba industry the very first products designed for underwater exploration. In 1991, Dive Rite became the first manufacturer to launch a user programmable Nitrox computer called the "Bridge." In 1996, Dive Rite revolutionized the dive industry with the launch of the TransPac harness.

    DIVE SYSTEM

All good projects are based on test-conducting, experience, technical know-how. However, breakthrough projects that exceed the test of time and keep advancing by setting ever-growing standards of excellence need passion, dedication to work and above all, a good dose of far-sightedness. These are the ingredients that in 1993 gave life to a dream, turning it into a first-class technical reality on a national and international level: this was the beginning of Dive System, founded by Paolo Zazzeri and Gioia Ancillotti. Unique dry suits, as unique as the individuals wearing them: they are tailor made to fit, to ensure safety and to guarantee top-grade scuba-diving performance even in the most challenging dives.

  • SUUNTO

    SUUNTO

    Suunto history

Suunto was founded in 1936 in Finland by Tuomas Vohlonen, an engineer and avid athlete. Vohlonen, frustrated by the inaccuracy of the compasses of the time, invented a new way of manufacturing liquid-filled compasses. With this invention, the Suunto M-311 compass became a precise and reliable tool that quickly gained popularity.

In the 1950s and 1960s, Suunto expanded its product line to include a wrist compass and other precision measuring devices such as clinometers and spirit levels. With a commitment to quality and innovation, Suunto has earned a reputation for producing reliable tools for a variety of fields, including surveying, cartography and sailing.

    History of Suunto dive computers

The history of Suunto dive computers dates back to the early 1980s, when the company, already known for producing precision compasses and measuring tools, decided to enter the diving equipment market. Suunto's first dive computer, the SME-ML model, was introduced in 1987. This was a breakthrough moment, as the SME-ML enabled divers to precisely monitor dive time, depth and safe decompression time, greatly increasing safety underwater.

The following years brought further development of Suunto's dive computer technology. In 1996, the company introduced the first nitrox-enabled dive computer, the Suunto EON model. This was a significant improvement that allowed divers to use gas mixtures with higher oxygen content, which extended the no-decompression time and increased the safety of diving at greater depths.

Suunto consistently developed its products, introducing new decompression algorithms. Initially, Suunto dive computers used the RGBM (Reduced Gradient Bubble Model) algorithm, developed by Dr. Bruce Wienke. This algorithm took into account both microbubbles and large gas bubbles, improving the accuracy and safety of decompression calculations.

In 2001, Suunto released the Suunto Vytec model, which was the company's first dive computer to support trimix - a mixture of three gases, including helium, which is used in very deep technical dives.

Today's Suunto dive computers, such as the Suunto D5 and Suunto EON Core, use advanced Fused™ RGBM 2 algorithms, which combine the best features of previous models and further optimize safety by dynamically adjusting the decompression profile based on actual diving conditions.

The development of Suunto dive computers reflects the company's commitment to providing divers with the most advanced, safe and reliable tools to fully enjoy the underwater world.
